More ads are coming to ChatGPT as Amazon signs new OpenAI deal - Friday, September 11, 2026 - 08:25
  • Amazon and OpenAI partner up to enable more brands to buy adds in ChatGPT
  • US brands can join a pilot to buy ads directly via Amazon
  • Cost per click and per 1k impressions are options

Amazon has announced a new partnership between its Ads business and OpenAI, allowing advertisers to buy ads within ChatGPT.

Initially launching as a pilot in the US, the move would mean that brands can buy ChatGPT ads from Amazon DSP instead of having to deal with OpenAI itself, making it more accessible to brands that already use Amazon's platform.

The company noted that conversational advertising represents one of the fastest-growing opportunities for brands to reach consumers where they spend more and more time, and compared with other channels, it remains much more untapped.

US brands can now buy ChatGPT ad spaces via Amazon

Crucially, Amazon wanted that it does not control which ChatGPT conversations receive an ad, but rather it helps campaign setup and optimization. In other words, Amazon works as an intermediary to handle negotiating ad spaces with OpenAI.

Both text and image ads can be displayed underneath the chatbot's answer, with OpenAI set to display a clear sponsored ad label in order to keep a clear distinction between meaningful output and advertised content.

Amazon is also offering two payment types for its ChatGPT-bound ads – cost per click and cost per thousand impressions.

"Through our collaboration with Amazon Ads and ChatGPT Ads, we can leverage deep consumer insights to inform how and when Delta Vacations appear within ChatGPT Ads experiences to create new opportunities for travellers to engage and discover vacation possibilities," Delta Vacations President Katrin Koenig explained as one of the platform's early customers and users.

While OpenAI has its own, much smaller advertising program, partnering with Amazon gives it access to a huge pool of established advertisers already using Amazon. As the third-largest digital advertising business (per Marketing Dive) with an annual advertising revenue of around $70 billion, even a small proportion of this could mark a major boost for the ChatGPT maker.

Google appears to have killed off the Pixel Tablet after just three years, and the move has left users concerned for the fate of ‘one of the most underrated products' - Friday, September 11, 2026 - 08:38
  • Google has quietly pulled the Pixel tablet from its online store
  • You can no longer purchase it from third-party retailers, or buy any accessories
  • Users are disappointed, but not surprised that Google has axed another one of its devices

Google has seemingly pulled the plug on one of its most underrated devices, the Pixel Tablet, and in true Google style, it did this very quietly — leaving users bitterly disappointed.

For starters, the Pixel Tablet’s product listing has disappeared from the Google Store after launching in 2023, leaving users to believe that the company’s flagship tablet is no more. It’s also no longer available to purchase through third-party retailers such as Amazon, and while you can still view it on Best Buy, the listing states that ‘this item is no longer available in new condition’.

Even its array of accessories has run its course on the Google Store. Products such as the Speck SandyShell Case and the Charging Speaker Dock cannot be purchased, and you can only opt in to ‘Get notified’ if they ever come back into stock which, given the absence of the tablet itself, is highly unlikely.

Though the Google Pixel Tablet may not have been as popular as the iPad or other models in the pool of the best tablets, it was still a respected and admired device by those who habituate the Google/ Android ecosystem. Reddit has been a hotspot for users to air their disappointment, but that said, not everyone is entirely surprised about it: ‘It's a shame. It's one of the most underrated products they came out with,’ one user wrote.

For others, it’s more than that. Some believe that Google’s decision to axe its only tablet doesn’t help for maintaining a complete cross-device experience for users, which another user highlights in a Reddit thread (below). It doesn't help if you’ve been toying with the idea of getting a Pixel Tablet to use alongside your Pixel Phone and Pixel Watch.

Comment from r/GooglePixel

It feels like Google is taking a step back, as opposed to enhancing the user experience. That said, the tech giant’s approach to its Pixel Tablets has always been a bit rocky, and other users are putting the device’s demise down to Google’s total neglect of its tablet range.

As mentioned, the Google Pixel Tablet was unveiled in 2023, starting at $399 / £399 / AU$649, then rumors of a second tablet started floating around, and naturally, we became excited. There were even talks of a third tablet, until word that Google had completely halted its production shut the rumor down. In the end, Google only released the one tablet, leaving both the Pixel Tablet 2 and Pixel Tablet 3 in the dust.

We’re just as disappointed as you, yet equally unsurprised, that yet another perfectly intact Google device has been wiped from the face of the planet. Given the company’s recent decision to retire its lineup of Nest Audio speakers to make room for its upgraded Google Home Speaker, it was only a matter of time before Google would put another device on the firing line.

As it stands, we don’t know what Google’s intentions are moving forward. It could be that, just like its audio devices, Google is either preparing to enter a new era and rethink its approach to tablets — or leave an open void.

We've contacted Google for a comment, and will update this story if/ when we hear back.

A new Android attack combines malware and ransomware in a cocktail of cybercrime - Friday, September 11, 2026 - 09:05
  • Zimperium uncovers Mantax Otax, Android malware merging infostealer, RAT, backdoor, and ransomware
  • Distributed via APKs on third‑party stores, social media, and phishing; older Android versions most at risk
  • Steals extensive data, enables remote monitoring, then encrypts files with AES and demands ransom

When threat actors target people’s devices, they usually infect it with one of many malware strains: an infostealer, a remote access trojan, a backdoor, or a ransomware encryptor.

Rarely do we see all of these functionalities merged into a single entity, and even rarer - to have it target Android mobile devices - yet, security researchers Zimperium discovered just that.

Mantax Otax

The security outfit published an in-depth report on Mantax Otax, a unique strain of malware circulating in the wild. It is apparently developed by an Indonesian threat actor, targeting victims in the country, but we don’t know exactly how many people are infected, or if this campaign is aimed primarily at business users, or individuals in general.

The malware is being distributed as a standalone APK, meaning it can be found on third-party app stores, Telegram channels, forums, and across social media. There are no traces of Mantax Otax on any of the official app repositories, including the Google Play Store, or Samsung’s Galaxy Store. Zimperium also speculates that it is likely being distributed via phishing emails.

Mantax Otax primarily targets users sporting older Android phones. Versions 9 and older are most at risk, since on these devices the attackers can make use of all of the malware’s features. Android 10 and newer models do get some protection:

“Conversely, on modern devices running Android 10 and above, the malware’s efficacy is severely hindered by native OS defenses, specifically Scoped Storage restrictions,” the researchers explained. “Due to these sandboxing rules, the ransomware is constrained to scanning only the application's localized external files directory, which drastically mitigates the blast radius and reduces the volume of accessible user files.”

Newer devices, as well as users of Zimperium’s Mobile Threat Defense (MTD) and Runtime Application Protection (zDefend) are said to be protected on a software level.

Another important caveat is the permissions. As is usual on Android devices, most malware won’t work unless the user grants an extensive set of permissions beforehand. In this case, Mantax Otax first asks for admin privileges, after which it grants itself an extensive list of capabilities, from accessing SMS messages, to contacts, audio, and images.

It then requests accessibility permissions, fully taking over the compromised device.

Malicious capabilities

Mantax Otax is said to be quite capable. It steals browser history, contacts, call logs, SMS messages, notifications, files, gallery media, Google account information, device specifications, location data, and application inventories. It can also pull WhatsApp information such as messages and profiles, and on Telegram it can also pull lock-screen PINs.

Infostealing features aside, it also serves as a remote monitoring tool, grabbing screenshots, recording the screen, or livestreaming it directly to the attackers. It can take photos using both the front and rear cameras, although Zimperium did not mention any microphone-recording capabilities.

Finally, once all of the data has been harvested, it encrypts user files with AES, deletes the originals, and appends a .enc extension. Victims are then shown a chat interface where they can communicate with the attackers directly and negotiate a ransom payment in exchange for getting their device back.

The tool seems to be in continuous development. Zimperium found two separate versions, one being an “evolution” of the other: “Notably, it has modified its network traffic behavior to utilize WebSockets and introduced a set of new commands,” the researchers said.

There is a reason why ransomware operators prefer targeting businesses instead of individuals. Although the latter has not disappeared entirely from the victim list, businesses stand to lose a lot more from disrupted operations and, as such, are targeted more frequently. Unfortunately, we don’t know what kind of app Mantax Otax is spoofing, therefore it is difficult to assess who the targets are.

Inspiration espresso: 5 quick-hit motivational quotes for small business owners - Friday, September 11, 2026 - 09:12

“Running a small business is ridiculously easy” – nobody, ever.

There is no denying that running a small business requires a specialist skills and approaching problem-solving like a competitive sport. With many small business owners working on their own, at least in the beginning, this adverse environment can feel lonely.

Sometimes, even the most motivated founder needs a nudge in the direction of progress. So, I’ve listed five quotes I’ve often read back to myself over the last 10+ years of small business ownership. I hope that you also find some spark of inspiration in these words.

Mark Twain on getting started

(Image credit: Getty Images/ Library of Congress)

Key takeaway: Stop waiting for the perfect time.

We’ve all been there: we have a great business idea, but the time isn’t right. The same excuses circulate in our heads. Not enough money, the market isn’t ready, where will I find the time…what if I fail?

This quote from Mark Twain reminds us that action always precedes progress. If you knew you needed to fail 100 times before you succeed, wouldn’t you want to start failing as soon as possible? The best time is right now.

Bill Gates on unhappy customers

Key takeaway: Feedback isn't an attack; it's valuable R&D.

Small business owners can easily obsess over keeping customers happy. After all, losing just one customer can significantly affect business success. Here, Bill Gates reminds us that an unhappy customer actually presents an opportunity. Happy customers rarely offer honest feedback on where your business falls short, but an unhappy customer certainly will.

Taking the time to listen to an unsatisfied customer not only offers valuable business insight, but can help them feel valued, often turning them from unhappy to fiercely loyal to your business.

Winston Churchill on failure

Key takeaway: Whether you are on a high or a low, remember it will pass.

Whether you are a fan of Winston Churchill or not, few will deny the power of this quote.

It reminds us that whatever is happening in business right now doesn't really matter, as long as we continue. Failures will come and go, but so will successes. So, enjoy successes while they last and rest easy knowing failures are temporary.

Larry Page on delighting customers

(Image credit: Getty Images/ Chris Hondros)

Key takeaway: Overdelivering is a powerful retention strategy.

The majority of businesses overpromise to get customers through the door, then underdeliver where possible to lower costs. You can set yourself apart by taking the opposite approach.

Sure, this makes customer acquisition a little harder, but it sure makes customer retention a lot easier.

Reid Hoffman on launching your business

(Image credit: Getty Images/ Dominik Bindl)

Key takeaway: Speed beats perfection.

Small businesses have one huge advantage over business behemoths: agility. Where big businesses spend millions testing behind closed doors, small businesses can launch lightweight and gather real feedback from real customers to improve future iterations.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is already an official Guinness World Record holder, and it's expected to break even more records at launch — 'GTA 6’s release is a really global phenomenon in a way that few things are' - Friday, September 11, 2026 - 09:30
  • Grand Theft Auto 6 has already scooped up some Guinness World Records
  • The Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition 2027 recognizes a GTA 6 trailer as the most-viewed game trailer in 24 hours
  • It's expected to break more records at launch, with the team keeping a "close eye" on it

The latest Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition is here, and it shouldn't come as much surprise that the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 is already taking home records despite not having actually launched yet.

The Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition 2027 officially lists a GTA 6 trailer as the most-viewed game trailer in 24 hours after it gained 475 million views in just one day.

As Guinness World Records Gamers Edition 2027 editor Alice Bell explains, "Grand Theft Auto 6 started breaking records before it came out. The first trailer still has the most views in 24 hours of any video game trailer, and for a while, the second trailer had the biggest video launch of anything, of all time, according to Rockstar."

"This was later beaten by Spider-Man: Brand New Day," she adds, "but 475 million views across all platforms is about 6% of the planet's population, which is incredible when you stop and think about it."

The first GTA 6 trailer arrived in December 2023, with the second dropping in May 2025 and offering a slightly longer look at the game. This was followed up by an extended look trailer with just under 27 minutes of footage last month.

The extended look first premiered on Netflix, but was later made available on YouTube.

"Netflix play their cards close to their chest, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the extended look earlier this month broke viewing records there," Bell continues.

"I’m sure there will be player count and revenue records to check as well. And of course, we’ll be looking at things like the number of developers who worked on it (a record currently held by Red Dead Redemption 2). Needless to say, the contribution of every single developer who worked on GTA 6 is important."

She goes on to say that the team will be "keeping a close eye on launch and post-launch events" for further record-breaking achievements, adding that "GTA 6's release is a really global phenomenon in a way that few things are these days."

Rockstar Games also holds plenty of other records under its belt. Grand Theft Auto 5 is listed as both the best-selling action-adventure video game, with 225 million copies sold as of February 2026, and the most-watched game on Twitch in 2024.

The book also explores the year's biggest hardware developments, popular video game characters and franchises, major content creators, and real-life stories with achievements outside the virtual world.

It retails for $15.99 / £12.99 and is available via Amazon and in bookshops now.

Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles.

If only I had pushed the ENVELOPE I could have got a purple first.

Alas, before seeing THINGS THAT ARE PUSHED METAPHORICALLY I had already made a mistake, linking DIGEST, JOURNAL, AGENDA and PLANNER thinking these were forms of written documentation.

Fortunately, my error was a minor hiccup and some light thought, rather than the deep variety, helped me connect INTERNALIZE and WAYS TO PRACTICE SELF-CARE.

What is NYT Connections?

NYT Connections is one of several increasingly popular word games made by the New York Times. It challenges you to find groups of four items that share something in common, and each group has a different difficulty level: green is easy, yellow a little harder, blue often quite tough and purple usually very difficult.

On the plus side, you don't technically need to solve the final one, as you'll be able to answer that one by a process of elimination. What's more, you can make up to four mistakes, which gives you a little bit of breathing room.

It's a little more involved than something like Wordle, however, and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to trip you up with tricks. For instance, watch out for homophones and other word games that could disguise the answers.

It's playable for free via the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.

Today’s theme immediately made me think of one of my favorite early REM songs, Harborcoat. Firing up Spotify, I set myself the challenge of seeing how many words I could spot before the end of the song, which was 3 minutes 57 seconds.

The results were four game words, three non-game words and just about the spangram — although I did attempt ONTHEWATER before seeing the full-length ONTHEWATERFONT.

After this blast of searching I slowed down and managed to find the remainder without too much of a struggle — although LIGHTHOUSE took me a while to connect.

Google Pixel Watch 5 review: Predictably competent, with new super-accurate GPS - Friday, September 11, 2026 - 09:58
Google Pixel Watch 5: One minute review

The Google Pixel Watch 5 is one of those smartwatches that’s pretty easy to review after a week of wear. It’s fast, it’s accurate, it looks nice and it’s comfortable to wear. There are a few big, groundbreaking changes in this edition: more accurate fitness tracking GPS, Breathing Emergency Detection and Insulin Resistance Trends, which are great, but they work largely in the background, improving existing features, or waiting in the wings to detect an event that (hopefully) may never arrive.

Gemini has become smarter, but that change is a result of the entire Google ecosystem rather than the watch specifically. The watch does give you the means to access Gemini on-wrist, which (if you have an internet connection) is like a little constant Hitchhiker’s Guide companion. It’s less useful for driving the functions of the watch day-to-day though, and I ended up using it the same way as other, more basic voice assistants. I’ve found some problems with Gemini, both as an entity in itself and as an agentic on-wrist assistant, which I’ll discuss later in this review.

The unique charging stand — in which the watch is vertical like a little clock — and the curved teardrop design, sizes and band-switching mechanisms are identical to the previous editions.

The biggest changes day-to-day are in the fitness features, thanks to the Google Health revamp. Google Pixel Watches used to use Fitbit software, but since Fitbit morphed into Google’s AI-first Google Health app, the free version is quite stripped-back, and the premium version is heavily reliant on an AI chatbot (again, based on Gemini) to interact with your data, build workouts, log food and generally use it in a meaningful way.

Your mileage will vary for this, based on your patience threshold with AI, but the subscription-free version of the app is sparse. That might be okay if you have the super-cheap Google Fitbit Air, but those spending $429.99 / £399.99 / AU$699 on a premium smartwatch, and don’t want to pay for Google Health Premium on top, might feel left out in the cold in terms of fitness features.

But, thanks to Wear OS’s vast library of third-party apps, the Pixel Watch’s elegant, repairable design, and some quality improvement and accuracy tweaks, the Google Pixel Watch 5 cements the series’ position as the best Android-native watch to buy for another year.

Google Pixel Watch 5: Price and availability

  • Starts at $399.99 / £369 / AU$649 for the 41mm model
  • $429.99 / £399.99 / AU$699 for the 45mm model
  • LTE at an additional cost

The Google Pixel Watch 5 starts at $399.99 / £369 / AU$649 for the 41mm model, and $429.99 / £399.99 / AU$699 for the 45mm, which is the model I tested. The pricing is roughly equivalent to the Apple Watch Series 12, while being slightly more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy Watch9, so I’m happy that it represents reasonable value for money — unless, that is, you’re buying it primarily for fitness.

The reason I say that is because you’ll need a premium subscription to the Google Health app, which costs $9.99 / £7.99 / AU$14.99 per month, to unlock all its features, whereas Samsung and Apple don’t lock core fitness features behind a paywall.

Apple’s own premium tier, Apple Fitness+, is a Peloton-style workout content service, not a paywall behind which your health information is locked. With this in mind, I’ve taken half a star off the Google Pixel Watch 5’s value score.

Google Pixel Watch 5: Design

  • Teardrop-domed Actua 360 display
  • Comfortable to wear
  • Materia 3 expressive software

I’ve always liked the design of Pixel Watches, and the Pixel Watch 5 looks and feels basically identical to the Google Pixel Watch 4. That domed teardrop Actua 360 display is just as bright as the Watch 4 at up to 3,000 nits, with the same bezel size. It’s a beautiful display, and if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The 60Hz refresh rate makes scrolling maps and messages, and other interactions, butter-smooth.

I do kind of wish the watch face had a raised bezel for protection, but that would completely ruin the look of the watch. As is, I love the design — I actually think it looks better than the squircle Apple Watch — and the watch is well protected from minor scrapes thanks to its Custom 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The watch is also repairable, able to be taken apart at home to replace the battery and display.

I’m wearing the 45mm model as I write this review, and it doesn’t look too big for my wrist, while the 41mm is a nice pebble shape that’ll look good on small wrists. A small digital crown acts as a button, a scrolling mechanism, and even a snooze button when the watch is on charge. The charging puck has you balance the watch vertically, with the screen reoriented to look like a clock. It’s a lovely design all round.

Wear OS 7, wrapped in the Pixel Watch’s Materia 3 Expressive design language, is a joy to interact with day-to-day. Notifications look nice, and the icons and messages resizing as I scroll is a great touch. My only software design quibble is Google’s divisive Google Health app which some commenters call ‘messy’ even in its free tier, and I dislike having to interact with the chatbot. However, that’s a Google suite problem as opposed to a specifically Pixel Watch 5 one.

Google Pixel Watch 5: Features

  • New background health features
  • Third-party app ecosystem
  • Gemini intelligence features

A number of new features debut on the Google Pixel Watch 5, most of them driven by the new, improved Gemini intelligence. In practice, Gemini here is largely an extension of the tools on your Android phone, although raise-to-talk to ask Gemini a question is a nice touch. You can also use it to call or message contacts hands-free, and all the usual use-cases, such as setting timers.

Gemini, once given permission to access your contact details, will work in the background across your phone and your watch with tools like Proactive Assistance (a feature which requires a Pixel 11 phone to pair the watch with), which uses Gemini to anticipate your next move based on the content of your message. One example Google gives is your friend requesting contact details for a babysitter: Gemini will pull up the babysitter’s phone number in a draft message ready to send with a tap on your wrist. It’s clever stuff, and it helps the watch begin to feel more like the agentic personal assistant we’ve been promised.

Health-wise, we get new emergency tools, with last year’s Loss of Pulse Detection feature returning alongside Breathing Emergency Detection, which monitors for severe drops in blood oxygen caused by choking, pneumonia, drug overdose, or any other airway-limiting urgent health issue.

Google says its feature works by triggering a strong haptic vibration and notification, followed by a countdown. If the countdown is not cancelled, Google says the feature “automatically prompts your connected phone or LTE-enabled watch to call emergency services. Once the call is connected, an automated voice message informs the emergency operator that a breathing emergency was detected.

“It explains that you aren’t responding and shares your precise location. If you’ve set up emergency contacts, the feature sends a message notifying them that you may need help.”

Blood pressure trends and insulin resistance trends (both metrics that would normally require the use of specialized gear to measure) can now be viewed as monthly reports generated by your watch reading other vitals using its LEDs. While these features aren’t as accurate as a blood pressure cuff or an invasive glucose monitor, they provide a general indication as to whether you may need to visit a doctor. You do not need a paid Google Health subscription to use these ‘Health Guardian’ features.

All of this is added to the Pixel Watch’s impressive existing feature ecosystem, with music control and storage, GPS workouts, access to third-party apps, on-wrist phone conversations and messaging, and all the usual communications features you’d expect from a flagship smartwatch.

Google Pixel Watch 5: Performance

  • GPS accuracy improved, and was responsive during testing
  • Heart rate tracking lines up with other wearables
  • Comfortable to wear day-to-day, but battery life still a sticking point

Another year, another Pixel Watch, another battery complaint. My biggest gripe about high-powered, communication-forward watches as opposed to lower-power models, like the best Garmin watches is the battery life. While the Pixel Watch 5 does have fast charging, and you’ll be able to top it up from empty to full power in less than an hour on the charging puck, it’s frustrating to have the watch die on you mid-morning after you’ve been wearing it for just a couple of days, especially if it does so before your gym session.

Daily charging, or at least every other day if you don’t have the always-on display enabled, is a necessity, while a 2.5-hour hike drained around 25% of the watch’s battery life during my testing.

At least the Google Pixel Watch 5’s metrics were up to snuff. Heart rate readings were in line with other wearables, with only very minor deviations against a Polar H10 heart rate monitor. Our writer Michael Sawh took the Google Pixel Watch 5 around the London Marathon course’s infamous Isle of Dogs route, well-known for causing GPS blackouts, and found it performed very well against an Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Garmin Fenix 8 Pro. You can read his full breakdown here.

The AI is useful, but not as useful as Google wants you to believe. Surfacing contextual information from your contacts is nice, and the voice assistant is fine, but there are too many edge-cases for it to be truly agentic. I asked Google Gemini on my watch for directions to my local train station, but rather than immediately surfacing directions it sent me back to my phone to open Google Maps to enable and confirm the route, then back to my watch, where I still had to open the Wear OS Google Maps manually.

Worse are the inaccuracies. As a stress test, I asked Gemini to find a local yoga class in my city center that started before 9am: it gave me two that started at 10am (without telling me), and one example that was completely fictitious — although Gemini said both the class and studio were on a particular street in my city, it was actually 14 miles away, and it got the time wrong anyway. Google may be very excited about the prospect of everyone having a virtual assistant to optimize their lives, but right now the technology doesn’t quite match up to the hype.

How I tested

I wore the Pixel Watch 5 for around 10 days, testing it in the gym, on runs, and on hikes. I compared it to a Polar H10 heart rate monitor during a run, and our writer Michael Sawh tested its GPS against Garmin and Apple watches. I stress-tested Google Gemini with tasks and questions, and used the watch as my primary wearable during my testing period.

7 new movies and TV shows to watch on Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Max, and more this weekend (September 11) - Friday, September 11, 2026 - 10:00

Who's ready to park themselves in front of their TV this weekend? I know I am. And, if you feel the same way, you'll be pleased to hear that a decent amount of new movies and shows have dropped on the world's best streaming services over the past few days.

It's HBO Max and — unexpectedly — Peacock that lead the way with this week's biggest new releases, too. I'm not sure what that says about Netflix and Prime Video's latest offerings but, hey, everyone's allowed an off-day (or, in this case, off-week). Anyway, scroll on to see what's worth checking out at home this weekend. — Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter

Supergirl (HBO Max)

James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Universe (DCU) suffered its first major hiccup with its most recent big-screen offering.

Indeed, many people — myself included — expected Supergirl to fly high in theaters earlier this year. Despite lead star Milly Alcock's best efforts, though, the DCU Chapter One film crashed and burned at the box office, and there are myriad reasons why. Read my Supergirl review for more on my biggest bugbears.

Still, with the DC comic book movie out now on HBO Max, those of you who didn't catch it at your local cinema can now pass your own verdict on it. Once you're seen it, check out my Supergirl ending explained piece to find out how it lays the foundations for Man of Tomorrow, aka Gunn's Superman sequel that'll arrive next July. — TP

The Paper season 2 (Peacock)

Ready to crack open some more award-winning stories at the Toledo Truth Teller? Well, don't be — we're running seriously short of them in The Paper season 2.

After the team's success at the end of season 1, editor-in-chief Ned is still desperately searching for the stories that'll take his team to the next level.

Esmeralda rarely thinks about anybody's reputation but her own. Meanwhile, Nicole is still giving Kelly Kapoor vibes in a majorly inferior way, and Mare... well, she's just trying her best. More of the same stupidity, in a nutshell. — Jasmine Valentine, entertainment reporter

Call My Agent! The Movie (Netflix)

Call My Agent! has a feature film on Netflix that reunites the cast of the hugely popular French comedy-drama series.

Here, Camille Cottin reprises her role as Andréa, but things aren't going very well for her. As she attempts to direct her first movie five years after the ASK agency closed, she loses her lead actor just days before production starts. In attempt to salvage her movie, she must get the old team back together, rekindling all the old friendships and rivalries that we know and love. — Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer

Drawn Together (Prime Video)

Who's up for some Spanish language romance? Prime Video doesn't just deliver the dramatic goods in its English projects, as Drawn Together easily proves.

Based on the novel Marfil by Mercedes Ron, we follow the rich daughter of a Spanish businessman living in New York who survives a kidnapping attempt. Her father then hires a bodyguard to protect her... and you can connect the dots from there.

Think a slow-burn, sexy, mutual attraction forming over something potentially fatal. There really is nothing like a tragedy to spark a romance, and I lap it up every single time. — JV

Last Seen (Apple TV)

Apple TV's new thriller show Last Seen follows a police dispatcher who believes he's received a call from his long-lost daughter. Desperate to reunite with her, he tries and track her down without thinking about the consequences.

Colin from Accounts' star Patrick Brammall leads the cast, with Shameless' Maxine Peake in a supporting role, as they become caught up in a mystery that's sure to leave you on the edge of your seat.

The first two episodes are available now, with subsequent episodes of this acclaimed Apple Original airing weekly until October 7. — LB

Colin From Accounts season 3 (Paramount+)

Patrick Brammall is everywhere this week, as Colin from Accounts season 3 arrives on Paramount+ (NB: it originally launched on Binge in Australia earlier this year).

It's the final outing for the beloved Australian romantic comedy, too, so its arrival is bittersweet. I don't want to say goodbye, but I'm also excited to watch all eight episodes this weekend.

Season 3 picks up after the humiliating aftermath of Gordon’s failed proposal to Ashley (at someone else's wedding, if rejection wasn't awkward enough). How on earth do you bounce back from that? You'll have to watch and find out. — LB

Band of Brothers: Legacy (HBO Max)

How many ways can the Band of Brothers' legacy truly be eked out over time? As it turns out, a documentary about its timeless appeal with exactly that title is one option.

25 years after release, we retrace its steps through the making and lasting cultural impact of the landmark HBO miniseries. This is less of a reunion, and more rare and previously unseen footage and photographs from HBO’s archives. Don't be too disheartened, though, as there are new interviews with original cast members. — JV
