Bit Reactor has released the final trailer for Star Wars Zero Company, which confirms the return of another fan-favorite Star Wars character.
Last month, the studio revealed the Zero Company cast and confirmed that Anakin Skywalker will be in the game, voiced by The Clone Wars actor Matt Lanter (I've played as him in my preview, and he's awesome).
Now, fans can also look forward to seeing the return of yet another fan-favorite character, Captain Rex, leader of the Grand Army of the Republic's 501st Legion, as revealed in the game's final trailer.
Rex appears for a split second, gearing up for a fight, suggesting he could arrive during a story-central battle.
Bit Reactor hasn't confirmed if the Clone Trooper will be playable, but I certainly hope so. Fans are also sharing their excitement, since it's been far too long since Rex has been involved in any Star Wars stories.
"You're as beautiful as the day i lost you," one fan wrote on X, as another replied to the trailer, "OUR BOYYYY IS BACK. CAPTAIN REX IS ACTUALLY BACK."
"REX LETS FREAKING GOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" someone else wrote.
It won't be long before fans get to meet Captain Rex again, because Star Wars Zero Company launches on August 27 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Series S.
Bit Reactor has confirmed that the game will take up to 40 hours to finish, but it won't have a New Game Plus mode.
I've played more than 15 hours of Star Wars Zero Company, and I'm hugely impressed with the story so far, the isometric turn-based tactics combat, and customization.

A British engineering company usually associated with Formula 1 and other motorsports has built an affordable “one-way effector” (meaning single-use) strike drone, essentially an intermediate-range cruise missile. MGI Engineering’s TigerShark is deployed from a ground-based vehicle with a rocket-assisted launch, whereby its onboard propulsion takes over and the rocket is detached.
Capable of delivering a 300-kilogram payload, the TigerShark uses GPS for navigation but is also designed to reach its target in terrain where GPS is unavailable or jammed.
The TigerShark is intended to be launched in multiples, with a swarm of the drones intended to attack targets, aiming to overwhelm air defense systems.
Complementary technologiesBased in Witney in Oxfordshire, MGI Defence — part of MGI Engineering — first unveiled the TigerShark at the DSEI exhibition in 2025. It now aims to bring the TigerShark to market within months, aiming to sell it to Britain’s strategic allies as a drone-based alternative to traditional cruise missiles.
Designed for faster assembly and delivery, the TigerShark can solve the problem of shrinking defense budgets, too, costing far less than Storm Shadow or Tomahawk cruise missiles.
As a one-way effector, the single-use drone is designed with a rocket-assisted propulsion for launch while twin turbojet engines drive the 661-pound payload to its target up to 900 kilometers (559 miles) away. Reaching speeds of up to 750 km/h (466 mph), the TigerShark can operate despite GPS jamming, thanks to inertial navigation.
This is one aspect of a pair of technologies used in conjunction to assure GPS-free targeting. While inertial navigation tracks position based on motion and speed from the launch point, a terrain-mapping system ensures what the TigerShark sees below matches its intended route, and makes adjustments. So, even if GPS is jammed, the TigerShark should reach its target.
Land-based salvoMGI has announced that the drone is available from October 2026, and will be manufactured in the UK with export licenses to friendly countries.
The company states that “TigerShark enables defence forces to engage defended or distant targets with speed, precision, and autonomy, without relying on satellite navigation or real-time control. Its guidance suite combines inertial navigation with GPS-free terrain mapping for reliable operation in GPS-denied and spoofed environments.”
“Built for coordinated launch and rapid deployment, TigerShark can be fired as a salvo from a land-based vehicle launcher to overwhelm or degrade enemy defences. Its modular payload bay supports a wide range of mission types, from warhead delivery to electronic disruption.”
The TigerShark will enter increased production in late 2026, with MGI Defence aiming to sell to allies needing a more affordable and faster acquisition alternative to traditional intermediate-range cruise missiles.
ChatGPT has a new interactive quiz feature, designed to make testing yourself a more active part of using the chatbot.
Instead of asking ChatGPT to explain something and then nodding along because everything looks familiar, you can have it put you on the spot. It's part of OpenAI's steadily expanding learning toolkit, building on Study Mode and other features.
I picked five subjects where I felt reasonably confident, but it turned out to be a very efficient way to locate the holes in my knowledge.
How to use the quiz featureThe quiz feature is available to anyone. You just need to prompt ChatGPT by asking for it. I decided to start with a quiz about AI itself, specifically its history. But I didn't want to just have very basic questions, so I made sure to ask for the quiz to be at a certain level. And while you can ask for a short essay answer format, I opted for the classic multiple-choice style, and for help with where I went wrong.
My exact prompt asked ChatGPT to: “Quiz me on the history of AI at a college level with 10 multiple-choice questions. Don’t show me the answer until I respond. Explain anything I get wrong and give me my score at the end.”
The one-question-at-a-time format made a bigger difference than I expected. A conventional online quiz often gives you a page full of questions, followed by a score and perhaps a few explanations once you are finished. Here, ChatGPT reacted after every answer, briefly explained the result, and moved on.
I'll admit I was surprised at how difficult it became, but despite some errors, I did reasonably well, and actually learned some new facts.

I have spent plenty of time reading about space, looking through telescopes, and collecting facts about stars, planets, and black holes, so I felt pretty safe. Unfortunately it felt like the AI took me telling it that ordinary solar system trivia was too easy after a few questions as some kind of personal insult.
“Make the remaining questions harder,” I told it, and ChatGPT took this to heart, with me facing questions on orbital mechanics and astronomical measurements that I barely got half right. Still, it's good to know that you can adjust the difficulty level on the fly.
That flexibility is something a fixed quiz cannot really offer. I could even tell ChatGPT exactly what was making things too easy, such as obvious wrong answers, and ask it to make all four choices plausible.
I decided I deserved something easier after that and chose 1990s pop culture. I grew up in the decade and figured it would be a breeze even if I asked for a high level of difficulty. I asked it to mix television, movies, music, video games, and technology questions, but to make it a little harder by "including questions that require more than just remembering titles. I managed a perfect score, despite not remembering exactly the composition of certain boy bands of the late 1990s and having to guess the right answer.
AI study buddyI went for a more highbrow form of entertainment next with a quiz about Shakespeare, specifically asking ChatGPT to "avoid extremely famous quotes and obvious questions about plays like identifying the leads of Romeo and Juliet."
The questions about secondary characters and plot details made me glad it was multiple choice. If I were taking a real class on Shakespeare, I'd tell ChatGPT to note where I was failing and come back for further questions on it. I could even upload my notes to make sure I was being tested on what the class is covering.
(Image credit: ChatGPT)My final category was world geography. At the suggestion of ChatGPT, I adjusted my prompt to make the quiz more dynamic in difficulty. I told the AI to "increase the difficulty of the questions every time I get three answers in a row correct."
If I was worried about getting cocky, that addition kept me very humble. The first six questions I breezed through, but enhancing the difficulty twice left me lost hunting for obscure mountains and the location of deep-sea trenches.
After I finished, I asked ChatGPT to analyze my answers, and the AI claimed it could distinguish between a silly mistake and a repeated gap in my knowledge. If I repeatedly struggled with a particular period, concept or kind of question, it offered to do a new round of questions focusing on that.
One crucial fact to remember is that ChatGPT can still get things wrong and hallucinate answers even in a quiz. If an answer seems off, you should check it independently. For more casual learning, the AI did quite well. You still have to do the studying yourself, but if you run out of practice questions, ChatGPT can help you keep studying ahead of any classroom quiz.

Hyperscale data center development has been banned on tribal lands owned by the Cherokee Nation following a poll of its citizens.
The poll was run by a task force headed by Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr., and found that 64% of the 1,593 respondents were opposed to the construction of data center campuses within Cherokee Nations lands, which cover about 6,963 square miles across 14 counties in Oklahoma.
Citizens' concerns returned in a 37-page report focused heavily on water consumption, air quality, noise, and cultural resource protection.
Cherokee Nation data centers require early consultationThe report also stated that data centers seeking approval to be built on non-tribal land within the reservation will require an early consultation with the Cherokee Nation, and will not be supported unless this early consultation takes place.
"Our primary responsibility is to protect our citizens and tribal communities from these threats, so we will not support any hyperscale data centers on our reservation without proper consultation," Hoskin said.
As there are no Oklahoma state rules requiring data centers to register, the number of planned and operational data centers is unknown. But estimates vary. CleanView places the number of planned and operational sites at 41, while the US Data Center Map says there could be as many as 51.
What we do know is that every hyperscale project within the state is on non-tribal land. Google’s Pryor campus has operated since 2011, but is undergoing expansion as part of a $2 billion investment in the Stillwater and Pryor campuses.
The citizens of the Cherokee Nation seem to share the same concerns as many other Americans, with fears of job replacement, environmental damage, and rising energy bills also being prevalent as reasons for AI data center opposition.
Other tribes, such as the Seminole Nation and Kickapoo Tribe, have already passed their own bans on data center projects within their territory.

A new study suggests that ordinary Wi-Fi networks could be repurposed to identify individuals without cameras, sensors, or their knowledge or consent.
Researchers from KASTEL, the Institute of Information Security and Dependability at KIT, tested the approach on 197 volunteers in controlled conditions.
Their system reportedly achieved nearly 100% identification accuracy regardless of a person's viewing angle or the way that person walked.
A method that needs no extra hardwareThe technique relies on beamforming feedback information, a type of signal that connected devices routinely send back to a router.
This information is transmitted without any encryption, meaning anyone within range of the network could potentially intercept and read it.
By analyzing these radio signals over time, the system reportedly builds images of people from multiple viewpoints inside a space.
Earlier wireless sensing methods often required specialized equipment, such as LIDAR sensors or detailed measurements of channel state information from a network.
By contrast, the researchers say a standard, unmodified Wi-Fi device is entirely sufficient to carry out this new identification process.
"By observing the propagation of radio waves, we can create an image of the surroundings and of persons who are present," said Thorsten Strufe, a professor at KASTEL, KIT's Institute of Information Security and Dependability.
"This works similar to a normal camera, the difference being that in our case, radio waves instead of light waves are used for the recognition.
A user does not need to carry a phone, smartwatch, or other Wi-Fi-enabled device for the system to work.
Turning off one's own device would reportedly not prevent identification, since other active Wi-Fi devices nearby could still be used.
Privacy concerns extend beyond conventional surveillanceThe researchers argue that widespread wireless networks could create privacy concerns because they operate throughout homes, offices, restaurants, cafés, and other public environments.
Felix Morsbach noted that intelligence agencies and cybercriminals already have simpler methods, including compromising CCTV systems and connected video doorbells.
“The omnipresent wireless networks might become a nearly comprehensive surveillance infrastructure with one concerning property: they are invisible and raise no suspicion,” Morsbach added.
Compared with existing surveillance options, such as CCTV footage or connected video doorbells, wireless signals leave no visible trace behind.
Professor Strufe cautioned that this same invisibility could make the technology particularly attractive within certain authoritarian political systems around the world.
"The technology is powerful, but at the same time entails risks to our fundamental rights, especially to privacy," said Strufe.
Ordinary routers could potentially enable people to be recognized without their knowledge during routine movements, and this could be dangerous in the wrong hands.
Therefore, widespread deployment could make individual encounters difficult to distinguish from ordinary wireless activity.
The researchers argue that privacy safeguards should be incorporated into Wi-Fi technology before such capabilities become widely and easily exploited.
Specifically, they are calling for protections to be written into the forthcoming IEEE 802.11bf wireless standard currently under active development.

A malicious SIM card can instruct the device it sits in to run commands of an attacker's choosing, and on the cellular modules embedded in electric vehicle chargers, industrial routers, and car telematics units, essentially allowing it to take the entire device over.
Researchers from the University of Birmingham and the German security firm Fuzzware demonstrated this against a commercial Autel EV charger, achieving code execution driven entirely SIM card-issued commands.
One malicious SIM card to rule them all?The work focuses on a standardized feature called Proactive SIM, which as a feature, is not malicious; it's a standard in a cellular specification that lets a SIM push commands to a device rather than acting as a passive identifier for one's identity on a network.
The problem is one specific command in that set, RUN AT, which asks the modem to execute an AT command, the modem control language dating to the 1981 Hayes Smartmodem that every vendor has since extended with its own additions.
The support extender essentially gives a SIM module its own general-purpose console on devices that lack safeguards to prevent such an attack.
Tomasz Piotr Lisowski and Dr Marius Muench of Birmingham, working with Fuzzware's Kristian Covic, built a toolkit called CATana to find out what a hostile card could do with that console.
The team tested 26 devices, 18 smartphones and eight cellular modules, and found the SIM AT interface exposed on nine of them. The exposure is overwhelmingly concentrated in machine-to-machine hardware: six of the eight modules accepted the command, compared with just three of the 18 phones: the Oppo Find X5, the Oppo Reno 14 F 5G, and the Asus Zenfone 9. This makes it not exactly a Simjacker-esque exploit but still one that needs to be taken seriously.
All nine devices that accepted the command run a Qualcomm chip or modem, but five others that do were not vulnerable to the attack. The researchers first shared the reports with Google, Oppo, Quectel, Semtech, and Qualcomm in March 2026, and with the GSMA in May. Qualcomm has since built a hardened configuration that switches the interface off by default, which the researchers say will be the default on future devices.
The attack vector, however, is limited because, to leverage it, the attacker must already control the SIM itself. Knowing a victim's contact number is not enough; the attacker needs physical access to the SIM slot. The exploit is real and concerning, but it has limited utility compared to a remote one for smartphones.
The IoT side is more concerning, however: unattended equipment with an accessible SIM tray can now potentially be exploited, and physical swaps might be easier than with something more personal, like one's personal phone. The card essentially talks to the equivalent of a Linux computer, one that the paper calls a rich attack surface for hostile SIM cards.
For now, the irony is that while modern smartphones have largely retired the surface this attack vector exploits, the machine-to-machine world has not, and the equipment least likely to receive a firmware update is the equipment most exposed currently.

When troops are in the field and facing drones without electronic countermeasures, there is only one response possible. To ensure confidence and decisiveness in combat with sUAS attacks (small Unmanned Aerial Systems), US Marines have been training in the skill of taking out a consumer-sized drone with small arms and light weapons.
A three-day event held in Twentynine Palms, California, featured operatives from the 1st and 2nd Marine Divisions training in C-sUAS (counter-small Unmanned Aerial Systems) tactics, with drones from the US Marine Corps’ Tactical Training and Exercise Control Group, 7th Marine Regiment, and 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion.
Kinetic weapons used in dealing with the simulated drone threat included automatic rifles, shotguns, and grenade launchers.
Realistic threatWhile electronic countermeasures were available to the assembled Marines, the use of small arms and light weapons has drawn attention. The soldiers were targeted by well-trained drone pilots, presenting a real challenge, rather than a duck shoot.
“The pilots that we had were really good,” said US Marine Corps Capt. Faith Richardson, a platoon commander with TTECG. “Those Marines were a huge contributor. We tried giving the training audience a realistic look at the threat, and having proficient, well-trained pilots was really important.”
Weapons used by the Marines included M27 automatic rifles firing 5.56mm rounds, M1014 combat shotguns using 12-gauge shells, and M32A1 and M320 grenade launchers equipped with 40mm antipersonnel rounds. The sUAS craft were flying at over 90 miles per hour, with attack runs coming as close as 20 meters from the Marines.
Drone threats have increased in prominence over the past decade thanks to the proliferation of off-the-shelf components and consumer drones.
As Richardson adds, “Small unmanned aerial systems have been around for a while, it’s just more prevalent in the battlespace today because it’s more cost-effective.”
Combating a prolific threatAiming to build confidence in combating sUAS attacks, the training took place alongside other exercises, including urban combat, with personnel evaluated on how they detected and defeated sUAS.
“Everywhere in the modern world, in all conflicts, the sUAS threat is becoming more prolific on the battlefield," added US Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Kevin Jares is an instructor with Tactical Training and Exercise Control Group. "We’re figuring out ways, with the squad’s organic weapons, to combat that threat and how to survive in today’s modern battlefield.”
The event seems to have been a success, and the results were deemed good enough for classroom and practical sessions on tactical responses to sUAS and C-sUAS to be included in future Service Level Training Exercises.

Johansson declined, but Altman pushed on with a voice, dubbed 'Sky', that was near-indistinguishable from the actor's, essentially suggesting the technology that OpenAI had created was on a par with the fictional tech in the film. That's why, in a statement, Johansson expressed her anger and intention to get the voice taken down.

It was also a dark reminder that deepfakes are becoming increasingly easy to create, and that it's not only harmful users, but AI companies and executives that can so brazenly co-opt another person's identity for their own purposes.

Ukraine's Ministry of Defense has officially codified the Dovbush T40, a strategic-level unmanned aerial system built entirely by a Ukrainian manufacturer.
The aircraft can travel more than 2,000 kilometers and remain airborne for over 24 hours continuously.
That combination of range and endurance gives Ukrainian forces the theoretical ability to strike deep into Russian territory, including the Urals and western Siberia.
A longer reach than its predecessorThe T40 was developed by the same company behind the Dovbush T20 and the Kotyhoroshko systems, both already active on the battlefield since 2022.
According to the ministry, those earlier platforms proved highly effective in combat conditions across multiple operational settings.
The T20 was originally built for medium-range reconnaissance, real-time artillery fire adjustment, and precision strikes against nearby objectives.
Engineers used lessons from that program to design the T40 as a considerably longer-range and more powerful strike platform.
The new system is meant for deep reconnaissance, fire correction, and precision strikes against infrastructure, equipment, and personnel far from the front line.
During testing, the drone met the tactical and technical specifications set out by its developers beforehand.
It carries a high-performance engine with electronic fuel injection and maintains notably low radar visibility, according to officials involved in the program.
Built for different strike missionsThe T40 can operate in different configurations, functioning either as a strike system or as a platform for releasing munitions.
Ministry officials also noted the drone's resistance to electronic warfare, along with what they described as advanced onboard technological equipment.
Its unveiling comes as Ukraine works to widen its long-range strike capability using weapons built inside the country rather than supplied abroad.
Russian outlet Agentstvo recently reported that Ukraine has sharply increased its use of domestically produced Flamingo cruise missiles against sites inside Russia.
The T40's introduction and the rising Flamingo strike tempo suggest a coordinated push toward self-sufficient, long-distance capability.
Ukrainian officials have not disclosed a production timeline or the number of T40 units currently planned for deployment.

Ukrainian civilians and relatives of people killed in Russian drone attacks have sued American networking manufacturer Ubiquiti Inc. in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
The lawsuit alleges that the company's long-range wireless equipment became the backbone of the command network behind Russia's drone campaign against civilians in occupied and front-line Ukraine.
Ubiquiti has not filed a response or commented publicly; it has also not been charged by any US or EU authority with a sanctions or export-control violation related to Ukraine at the time of writing.
Shifting the onus of vetting customers to a US company?The Russia-Ukraine war has lasted over four years, and it has reshaped the modern battlefield through asymmetric approaches from both sides. Militaries worldwide are watching as they learn what modern warfare could look like in the near future between two neighboring countries.
Drones, however, are a key part of the battlefield, and while both sides employ jammers and countermeasures to said jammers, including fiber-optic drones, they remain among the most destructive devices in the conflict.
Wireless drones, however, still rule the roost, especially for deeper strikes behind enemy lines, which is why an NYSE-listed company (ticker UI) now finds itself mired in an unexpected lawsuit over its radio bridge antennas, which are also subject to US export restrictions on Russia.
Ubiquiti makes long-range wireless bridges: paired antennas that carry a network link between two distant points, widely used to deliver internet access where cable does not reach.
The complainants allege that devices circumventing export controls managed to keep reaching Russian forces through intermediary supply chains, and that they now link reconnaissance units, drone operators, strike units, and commanders across roughly 100 kilometers of battlefield network.
They also alleged Ubiquiti could have cut the pipeline off through geofencing, by terminating distributors tied to sanctions-evasion routes, or by building a remote-disable feature into its firmware, and that it chose not to take any of these initiatives.
Scott Gilmore, partner at DiCello Levitt and lead counsel for the plaintiffs, said in the firm's announcement of the filing, "This case is about corporate accountability for enabling crimes against humanity."
This is despite Ubiquiti conceding that it doesn't have "any visibility on the location or extent of purchases" made by individual network operators and service providers from its own distributors.
The approach that the lawsuit hints at is not unlike how SpaceX handled its Starlink terminals once Russian forces started using them after it initially denied they were being used systematically. Government-level intervention eventually forced SpaceX to require users to register their units on an official government-approved whitelist to restore connectivity.
If the motion passes, it would considerably change how supply-chain accountability litigation is handled in the future for a company that did not directly sell them to a sanctioned entity, especially as the White House is in an uproar over bleeding-edge Nvidia AI chips making it to China despite export restrictions. Ubiquiti, on the other hand, could argue that it has no duty to police where its products are re-exported and that no duty runs from a networking manufacturer to civilians in a war zone thousands of miles from the point of sale.

Nvidia has released NeMo Switchyard, an open source model router that sits between an application and a pool of language models and decides, per request or per turn, which model should handle a particular task.
The aim is to maximize efficiency by picking the right model for the right task: pushing frontier-level models to do simple tasks that much smaller or cheaper models could handle is not only inefficient, but also costly for enterprise customers.
This comes at a time when enterprise customers are already grappling with rising costs that can quickly spiral out of control as they increasingly adopt AI.
An open-source addition to a growing chorus of AI routersThe problem Nvidia is trying to solve isn't new, and industry giants are already attracting a lot of attention. The emerging field itself is potentially lucrative, even if it focuses on cutting costs, and major players are looking to get in on the action; Stripe's upcoming $7+ billion acquisition of OpenRouter, underscores this.
Switchyard is no different from its peers; it is essentially a proxy that uses a routing algorithm to decide which AI model to send queries to, while delivering an answer in the format that the calling application or user requires.
It accepts OpenAI, Anthropic, and Responses API requests, translates between them, and documents the selected model, decision rationale, token usage, and latency for each call, enabling transparency and letting it tweak or tune its approach over time.
This makes sense compared with a one-size-fits-all approach that would otherwise be prevalent in a world with limited frontier-level AI compute, as LLMs continue to grow larger and more demanding. One example is what Nvidia points to: Nemotron Parse, a one-billion-parameter model primarily designed to extract structure from PDFs.
The question remains, however, whether such an approach is always feasible. Leveraging such a routing tool comes at a cost; LangChain's test of Nemotron 3.5 Lightning found that its judge model, which determines whether the agent is still on track after each turn, consumed up to 21.2% of total cost, second only to what it spent on Claude's Opus 4.8.
Running a more optimized judge model could therefore yield greater savings or lower overhead, but it could also hinder cases where users need a more basic AI model, and the judge model increases costs by reading or checking output at every turn.
A secondary concern would be variance: while costs are noticeably lower than running just Opus 4.8 in testing, it does swing from anywhere between $2.16 and $3.61, a mammoth 67% movement essentially guided by when it escalated queries to a bigger or smarter model. This tradeoff makes cost hard to predict: while routing lowers average spend, it widens the distribution around it.
LangChain also says users should not use Switchyard if their workloads are short or latency-sensitive; it estimates it adds about 700ms of latency because the judge model has to read all output.
Nvidia's take here is simple: it is pushing a packaged, open-source solution that offers a broad set of integrations in what is essentially a relatively fragmented space. Routing work to smaller open-weight models pushes inference toward hardware enterprises own, which Nvidia sells.
At the same time, cheaper inference per task has historically meant more inference, not less, which is the outcome a company selling accelerators would choose to woo enterprises, many of which are still on the fence when it comes to directly investing in the hardware that powers it all.

Alibaba Cloud has begun commercial sales of its Lingjun Zhenwu M890 supernode instance, letting customers rent a 64-card, high-speed interconnected computing unit without building their own data center.
The launch makes it the only Chinese-origin supernode that users can effectively use online without entering a purchase agreement or using a preconfigured AI model instance, an impressive enterprise-centric addition.
There is a caveat for enthusiasts looking to test it outside China: it is currently limited to users in North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region only.
What is Alibaba offering to enterprise consumers?A supernode is a set of accelerators wired together tightly enough that software treats them as one very large chip rather than a network of separate ones. This approach is often necessary; a model too big to fit on a single card would otherwise have to shovel data across comparatively slow networking, and that overhead can determine whether trillion-parameter models are practical to serve.
One of the best examples is Nvidia's GB200 NVL72, which leverages 72 of its Blackwell GPUs in a single configuration, or AMD's 72-GPU Helios configuration, which offers its own Instinct MI455X GPUs with more memory per GPU in tow.
Alibaba's offering is not faster than either example, and both are among the fastest options available to consumers worldwide, but it offers a mix of advantages to domestic Chinese consumers that would not otherwise be in play: Chinese Silicon, a Chinese cloud, and lower latency.
A domestic supernode built around a mixture of state restrictions and sanctionsAs Beijing restricts Chinese cloud providers from accessing the latest Nvidia and AMD chips they can buy in a tit-for-tat move for the White House's increasing heavy-handedness, the best options for enterprise customers and AI startups have become increasingly domestic, and Alibaba Cloud's homegrown silicon is a key example of how that policy has shaped its offerings.
The underlying Zhenwu M890 processor debuted at the Alibaba Cloud Summit in May 2026, where the company also disclosed a detailed chip roadmap through 2028. comes from T-Head, the group's chip design unit, and carries 144GB of HBM memory with inter-chip bandwidth up to 800 GB/s. The interconnect fabric uses an in-house ICNSwitch 1.0 chip, which lifts the scale-up domain from 16 cards on the previous-generation Zhenwu 810E to 64, with bandwidth up from 700 GB/s.
The company says that the configuration is, on paper, capable of handling a Mixture of Experts (MoE) AI configuration of up to 10 trillion parameters, while emphasizing that this is the first supernode-form architecture in China to successfully run large language models exceeding 2 trillion parameters; Alibaba says the current instance is already powering commercial services for Kimi K3 and Qwen3.8-Max.
Alibaba's roadmap continues past the M890. T-Head has said the Zhenwu V900 arrives in the third quarter of 2027 with three times the M890's performance, 216GB of memory, and 1,200 GB/s of inter-chip bandwidth, followed by the Zhenwu J900 in the third quarter of 2028.
There is no public pricing for the instance, and information on its power consumption is nonexistent; benchmarks comparing it to mainstream options are scant at best. Despite the limited information and geographic limits, the move underscores both China's growing self-reliance in the AI industry and its ambitions, which could see the supernode offered to a wider range of consumers, both domestic and international, in the near future.

At this point, the air fryer market is saturated with options. If you're not quite sure how to choose the right one for you, here are some things to focus on to narrow down your options:
1. Available counter space
Consider the air fryer's shape and footprint — you need something that's not going to take up all your counter space. Remember, too, that you should be leaving some breathing space to the sides and rear of the appliance. If you're short on space, look for a tall design with edges that go straight up (rather than bowing out).
2. Cooking capacity
For one or two people, 4QTs will be just fine. However, if you want to cook for more people, you'll want something bigger. For more complex meals, consider a dual-zone air fryer with two drawers that can be set to different temperatures.
3. Brand reliability
There are some really cheap, no-brand air fryers on Amazon, but if you want an appliance that'll last then I'd stick to a brand that's established in the kitchen appliance arena. Ninja is often touted as the leader in this market, and it makes some excellent air fryers, but we've also been impressed by options from the likes of Instant Pot and Cosori.
4. Function options
A lot of air fryers will be advertised as being able to deliver multiple functions in one, and will offer functions like baking, roasting and crisping alongside air frying. I feel these are an unnecessary gimmick — with my own air fryer, I never use anything but the air fry function (and if I'm quite honest, I struggle to see how the process of baking will be different to that of roasting; it's all just heat being circulated in the cavity at a specific temperature). I wouldn't factor it too heavily into your choice-making.
Jack Reacher is the action hero that I never expected to fall in love with — but if you've been a long-time fan, you probably knew that would be the case long before I did.
As of writing, Reacher season 4 is dominating the Prime Video charts, and for good reason. The long-rumored Nintendo Switch 2 port of Diablo 4 could reportedly launch very soon after BlizzCon 2026.
That's according to reliable leaker 'billbil-kun' of French outlet Dealabs (via Resetera), who originally reported on the Switch 2 version of Diablo 4 earlier this month.
Now, they claim that Diablo 4 will arrive on Switch 2 on September 15, nearly three years after its release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC, two days after BlizzCon 2026, which takes place between September 12 and September 13.
The edition will be called the "Age of Hatred Collection," and will include the base game and its two expansions, Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred, and will cost $69.99 / £62.99 / €69.99.
Pre-orders are expected to begin on September 12, coinciding with the opening of BlizzCon 2026, and it appears that the physical version won't have a cartridge, but will offer a code in a box instead.
Billbil-kun couldn't determine when the game will be announced, but suggested that an official reveal could be made during Gamescom 2026 next week, where Xbox has confirmed its presence, but it's currently unclear. The announcement could just as well arrive at BlizzCon, too.
Diablo 4 launched in 2023 and is regarded as one of the best isometric, open-world role-playing games (RPGs). In TechRadar Gaming's five-star review, freelance contributor Cat Bussell praised the game's "darkly compelling fantasy world," "fluid combat that scales well in single and multiplayer," and "endlessly customizable characters."

As the Google Pixel Watch 5 launched last week alongside a slew of new Pixel phones, one of the most interesting new developments was the introduction of the Pixel Watch's new Health Guardian suite of tools, including Insulin Resistance Trends.
Insulin Resistance Trends showcases a month-by-month breakdown containing estimations of how your body responded to blood sugar spikes — a crucial component in weight management and the development of Type-2 diabetes.
Body composition — your ratio of different kinds of fat, skeletal muscle, and bone — is also an excellent marker of insulin resistance and metabolic health, so body scans are often used to help determine insulin resistance. Body comp is often measured with medical-grade 'DXA' scans, which use X-Rays, or commercially available devices at home.
These home devices can be the best smart scales or even some smartwatches, such as the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. Without medical DXA scanners, they usually use a process called 'bioelectrical impedence analysis', or BIA. A low-level electric current is sent through the user's body, moving through fat, muscle, and bone at different speeds. The speed of the electrical current helps the device estimate the percentages of each material in the body: a useful thing to have on a health-monitoring device like a smartwatch.
(Image credit: Google)However, Google is busy researching an even more accurate version of a body scan without using any specialist equipment or BIA kit — in fact, it's just a smartphone camera and an onboard AI model. This in-development feature is called PhotoScan, appropriately.
According to its research blog, Google has been developing PhotoScan by matching smartphone photographs of subjects with medical-grade DXA scans, along with other subject information, then running it all through an AI model. The AI model eventually achieved 'strong DXA agreement' when estimating body fat percentage and other metrics, leading to 'near-DXA accuracy for predicting insulin resistance'.
The researchers conclude that 'clinical DXA imaging delivers the most accurate body composition but lacks scalability, whereas wearable BIA sensors offer convenience but are limited to basic body fat percentage.
'Our PhotoScan approach offers a promising middle ground, estimating granular body composition from standard smartphone imagery with near-DXA accuracy.' Sorry, Samsung — it looks like we'll be pivoting away from BIA sensors and towards smartphone cameras for body fat percentage calculation in future.
While the technology doesn't seem to be commercially available yet, it does 'demonstrate the feasibility of smartphone-based body composition estimation,' and I'd be surprised not to see it make its way to the best Pixel phones eventually.
As the resident NBN and home-internet expert for TechRadar Australia, I spend much of my time looking out for the best internet deals, and there are almost invariably a number of compelling options at every different speed tier — and these can be a great way to sense-check if you’re overpaying for your current NBN service.
When choosing deals, much of my decision-making revolves around two easily identifiable metrics: price and typical evening speed (TES). Typical evening speed is something all internet service providers (ISPs) have to disclose before you sign up for a plan. In essence, it tells you the download speed you can realistically expect to achieve during the busier evening hours of 7pm to 11pm. Being able to view the TES also means you can easily identify which ISPs ultimately offer better value — i.e. the ones advertising fast evening speeds at competitively low prices.
With almost all of the best NBN 500 plans promising to deliver their maximum 500Mbps speeds even during the peak evening period, it’s a tier where direct price comparisons make sense. However, things get a bit wobblier when you’re shopping for faster speeds, such as NBN 750 and NBN 1000.
Most plans on these tiers make more conservative promises when it comes to typical evening speed — for example, rather than the 1,000Mbps you might expect from NBN 1000, on these gigabit plans, most providers only promise evening speeds in the 820-860Mbps range. With that TES figure closer to 750Mbps than 1,000Mbps, it prompted me to ask a simple question: Is NBN 1000 actually worth it, or should you save yourself some moolah every month and opt for NBN 750 instead?
Cue a whole load of number crunching!
So averageFirst, I calculated the current average monthly cost of NBN 750 and NBN 1000 plans, alongside the average TES advertised by the providers I monitor. After crunching the numbers on NBN 750 plans from 14 providers and NBN 1000 plans from 20, the final results were:

As expected, the results show that NBN 1000 plans do not, on average, get as close to their nominal 1,000 Mbps tier speed as NBN 750 plans get to 750 Mbps. The gigabit gap was quite substantial, falling 164.6Mbps shy of the tier’s nominal 1,000 Mbps tier, compared to a shortfall of just 19.8 Mbps for NBN 750.
With the average monthly cost less than AU$10 difference between the two tiers — specifically AU$8.97, or 8.5% — the question then became whether the NBN 1000’s typical evening speeds are worth it from a value perspective. For that, we of course needed to do some more maths:

Next stepsWith NBN 1000 plans falling far short of 1,000Mbps in their typical evening speed promises (averaging just 83.5%), intuitively they seemed like they’d come out second fiddle to NBN 750. Surprisingly, however, NBN 1000 is slightly ahead when comparing cost per megabit for typical evening speeds: 13.8 cents for NBN 1000 versus 14.5 cents for NBN 750. There are a couple of NBN 750 plans that come in below that average at 13 cents per megabit — Kogan Internet and Spintel — which I've listed below.
In other words, NBN 1000 might cost more in absolute terms, but it does offer slightly better value per advertised megabit. If you need some recommendations as to which NBN 1000 plans are worth checking out, look no further than Dodo and Superloop. The cost per megabit on these two works out to be 13 cents, placing them among the cheapest for the tier.

If it's the most affordable NBN 750 plan you seek, you simply can't ignore this option from Spintel. The NBN 750 and 1000 plans don’t exist in a vacuum, however, and NBN Co has been pretty clear that it considers NBN 500 — introduced last September — to be the current sweet spot for most Australian households. So how does the golden child stack up, you ask? I’ve also made it no secret that I consider it the best option for most Australian households, but admittedly, that’s been without these recent calculations.
As we alluded to above, unlike NBN 750 and 1000 plans, most providers do advertise maximum plan speeds for NBN 500, with an average typical evening speed of 499.3 Mbps across 22 providers — equivalent to 99.9% of its potential 500 Mbps maximum.
On a cost-per-megabit basis, however, things don’t look as pretty for my personal fave. With an average monthly price of AU$95.75, the average megabit cost works out to around 19.2 cents, making it substantially more expensive than both NBN 750 and NBN 1000.
With that being said, it still remains the cheapest option in outright monthly terms, with the average NBN 500 plan costing AU$95.75 — AU$10.23 less than NBN 750 and AU$19.20 less than NBN 1000.
As for my top recommendations for an NBN 500 plan, look no further.

This Exetel plan has been my favourite ever since it launched in July last year. It offers fuss-free billing, claims maximum plan speeds — the telco has even been found to overdeliver on speeds in ACCC reporting — and it comes with extra perks, giving you the to boost your speed even further for AU$1 a day. The cost per megabit is also the cheapest at 16 cents. It's simply the best.

Kogan Internet Gold Plus | 500Mbps | AU$69.90p/m (first 12 months, then AU$85.90p/m)
If you want to pay as little as possible for an NBN 500 plan in the first year of service, then Kogan Internet's plan is the one for you, thanks to a generous 12-month discount. It also comes in at 17 cents per megabit, well under the current average. Plus, the telco receives generally favourable reviews from customers.

So, where to go from here? What these numbers helpfully confirm is that if you do opt for a faster plan, you are getting good value from a purely cost-per-megabit metric — so if you were looking to justify jumping up to NBN 750 or NBN 1000, you can probably stop reading here.
These facts and figures can’t take into account all the subjective-but-important real-world factors that come into play when choosing an internet plan — they can’t, for example, help you determine how much speed your household actually needs.
While it’s now been proven that NBN 1000 plans offer the cheapest cost-per-megabit, that’s only really useful if you actually need gigabit speeds regularly. What you’re ultimately paying extra for, most of the time, is time — specifically, less time waiting for large files (like video games or OS updates) to download.
And with NBN Co recently claiming that average monthly data usage increased to 574 GB per premises — up 13% year-on-year — having a plan that will download all those gigs faster is going to become more and more essential.
For me personally, I’ve decided I can stand to wait a little longer on the one or two occasions a month when that extra speed would be noticeable. It’s hard to justify paying more if the extra megabits are going unused 95% or more of the time.
